Ok, so this blog is veering towards becoming a food blog - at least for now. There are some photographers who start out by taking photos of flowers, trees, animals, etc. Well I start out by taking photos of food. I think food can be captured in beautiful ways - and the way the light hits it at certain angles really brings out things like the juicy, succulent, flavorful, and other irresistable aspects of food. Its starting to become a habit of mine to photograph the foods that I eat or try for the first time. They’re usually my favorite foods or food so delicious looking that it was simply made for the cameras and for your eyes to feast on. And since we’re on the topic of delicious food, you have to check out the Food Network in HD if you haven’t already done so. The clarity is so good that I can almost smell and taste what the chefs are making.
On to the main topic of this post. Ramen! I think we’ve found our food buddies in Adrienne and Bo. They have been torturing me (kenny is not really a fan of ramen or fatty pork) with descriptions and rave reviews of Daikokuya’s infamous ramen and fatty pork. Two of my many favorites in one? It was something I HAD to try. We finally got the chance to have dinner there with them last night. I’ve heard the crazy stories about the wait and luckily we got there just in time to beat the dinner crowd and got seated in about 20 minutes. Not bad at all! The place is small but cozy. The menu is simple, the servers were friendly and the food was awesome! Kenny had their Daikokuya Ramen - the broth was so sweet and tasty.

I had their Tsukemen - it’s similar to what Kenny had, except my noodles came on the side and the fatty pork is pan-fried and not boiled.

I like chewy ramen noodles so this was perfect. I also prefer pan-fried fatty pork over boiled. The broth wasn’t as good as Kenny’s though. It was a bit too salty for me. The pork was so soft and tender, and the fat just melts in your mouth. YUM.

My ramen came with a side dish of my choice, so I chose the Tuna Sashimi Rice Bowl. Although this is the small bowl, they were really generous with the amount of tuna sashimi! I thought i’d probably get 2-3 slices at most - but there were probably 6 slices in there.

Sorry if I made you drool. Maybe this can get your mind off of the ramen for a while:

We were at one of Kenny’s NAU games on Sunday night. Kenny was warming up and stretching before the game and out of nowhere Kareena runs over and starts to do the same. Luckily I had a camera with me to snap up this funny moment.
